Hello Chicago!
Believe it or not, we made it! Who’d have thought?!? Definitely not me. But that is beside the point. We’re here now! Our plane arrived 30 minutes early, and overall it was a very good flight. A few tiny bumps here and there, but taking the Xanax really did help ease the pain. Kevin watched Pulp Fiction while I read and looked out the window watching America below. It was actually really cool, for the first time I could see my house as we flew over. Saw the Lightning’s house and Boca’s too! It was all very small but I could tell exactly what I was looking at. So, we arrived early, and the airport was packed. Not with travelers, but with a live band and hundreds if not thousands of people waving American flags there to greet troops flying in...

Hello faithful bloggers. I decided that this would be the perfect way to sum up our trip to Chicago seeing as I am very forgetful and love looking back on our Europe blog just one year later! As many of you know I hate to fly. I also hate drugs. Today I decided that my hate for flying is greater than that of the drugs, and so I have drugged myself. Xanax. Everyone swears by it. So far, I’m good. A bit loopy and anxious but overall I think I’m in a better place. Our ride gets here at noon, our flight leaves at two, and we arrive in Chicago 4 hours later (if all goes according to plan!!). So, with that, I welcome you back to our blog, and bid you adieu until Chicago. xox Nic PS: This is a shout out to Kevin’s parents. Somehow they managed to raise...

Hello faithful bloggers (the few of you that are left!). I have taken the liberty to spend a few hours downloading and uploading IRELAND PICS! I only got the “big camera” done, so there will be more small camera pics to come, but these should tide you over for now! This weekend we decided to head up to Tahoe for a little R&R (we’ve become pretty used to the whole vacation thing and are having a hard time adjusting to the real world). Stephanie’s BF just happened to be working up there on Friday, so she hopped in the car with us and we all had a great Friday/Saturday together. We had a delicious dinner at Tep’s Villa Roma, then woke up early on Saturday, (I actually woke up to a note on Adam’s car that said “sorry I hit...

…for our new schedule. Yes, apparantly now we go to bed, exhausted, at 10pm and are wide eyed at 6am! Poo! We don’t even have kids and we’re up at six! No fair! I feel like I didn’t get nearly enough done yesterday despite the 6am head start on the day. I did, however, get to see two of my favorite kiddies, Sydney (my 6 year old BFF) and Owen (just 2 weeks old when I left, now a strapping 6 weeks old!). Now I just have a few more to catch up with and I’ll feel better! (Saw their moms too, wasn’t too shabby either!) Went and saw Nana two times yesterday, she is in much better spirits now that we’re home. She slept all night for the first time and seems to have more pep in her step, well, her therapy assisted step that...

We have arrived! Home at last, home at last! The flight was rather un-eventful…a bit of “rollercoaster like” turbulence a few hours in (ick!) but otherwise smooth sailing! Sharon and Sandy were there right as we hit the curb (THANK YOU!) and away we went. We were home by 3:45 yesterday afternoon, a mere 17 or so hours after leaving our hotel room in Dublin. Piece of cake! Our furry friends were a bit happy to see us (it took them the entire night to calm down and they haven’t stopped following us yet!), maybe as happy as we were to see them! Angela, Gordon, Sydney….job well done! The dogs were happy and healthy and the house was standing, what more could we want!!! THANK YOU! Nana was a bit happy to see me too! I went and visited her...

There was talk of a blog tonight, but it just isn’t happening! We have had a great time here in Ireland and will blog all about it soon, but not now. We finished up our trip with a very interesting dinner/dance/live music event. Now we’re back in our room, packed up and ready to go! Sean scheduled the taxi for 6:30am…3 hours and 20 minutes before we depart…hope there is good shopping at the airport! Then we’ve got an 11 hour flight and a 2 hour drive (if traffic cooperates) and we will be H-O-M-E! Signing off, for the last time in Europe, the Howes wish you all very sweet dreams. We have arrived! Our 9th country in only 4 weeks! WHEW. Our flight was around noon out of FCO which is about 30 minutes west of Rome, so we booked ourselves a taxi last night and were thrilled when it arrived this morning, just a tad bit late, but totally forgivable considering our taxi was a silver Mercedes. Score! Well, let me just tell you, having an Italian guy driving you around in a flashy Merc SOUNDS nice, but no, no, no. This is some scary shit! I was good through the city, heck, most of those scooters would bouce right off of our car, right? But then we got to the freeway. Not so bad at first. Crusing speed seemed normal, comfortable, acceptable…and then it began. There was apparantly a quarter mile between us and the car ahead of us which meant our...

First thing first. Shelly, yes, Shelly, I am specifically addressing you in my blog. Why would one do such a thing? Let me tell you. I am doing this simply to thank you for the 3:00 a.m. text that woke me from a dead sleep and nearly gave me a heart attack! I am guessing that in your reading-frenzy you have neglected to realize that there is a time difference between California and Italy and therefore you did not realize you would be scaring the crap out of me when you texted me at that hour. Regardless, I thought everyone should know how divoted a fan you are of our blog. A 3:00a.m. text just to tell me how sad you were that you would be spending the day driving home instead of getting your daily fix on howesabouteurope.com. You are a true fan! Second thing I...
