Into Tuscany – Tour Day 10
Today started with our sad call about Nana’s hip. We spent the morning making phone calls and packing up before hopping on the bus for a 4 hour ride into Tuscany. The bus ride was fine, we stopped for a quick lunch at an Autogrill which isn’t too bad for rest stop food. Much better than the fast food we have in the US. Once we made it to our hotel in Tuscany, which is actually a winery, we simply laid by the pool. Nic went out for a bit to take pictures and I did a load of laundry but all in all it was a nice, quiet, relaxing day. Something EVERYONE needed. Just an outline so we remember These are gonna be short and sweet just to get us up to date. Our day in Venice started with a walking tour to see some back streets of the city. The guide was really fun and had been born and raised in Venice. She showed us old buildings, statues churches and streets and explained the history behind a lot of Venice. We ended in St. Marc’s Square, which I described the other day. From SMS Nic and I went to tour the Doges Palace and to see the prisons inside. Doges palace is like a mini versailles that isn’t quite as impressive. Just like versaille each room is different and fully decorated with guilded paintings, ceilings, rugs, fireplaces and such. Also inside were the prisons where the Terrible 10 would pass judgment...

Nana was supposed to have surgery this morning for her hip, however, her heart is acting up and so they could not get her stabilized enough to put her under. I am getting information from my uncle Tom who is there and so I’m not sure exactly what is happening. He said she may have had a heart attack yesterday? She is on monitors right now and they have called in a cardiologist. I will keep you posted. N. We left out a very significant event from Monday’s blog “I’m on a boat”! Monday was Kevin’s mom’s birthday! This was the first time in 11 years for me, and many more I’m sure for Kevin, that we did not spend her birthday with her at the Harvest Fair! Mom, thanks for understanding that we love the birthday tradition and wish we could have been there with you…but a little something came up! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! This is our 8th day on tour. Today started early; too early to be honest. We had to be fed, watered and on the bus by 8am. As we all know, that is too early for Nic and I. We did make it downstairs at 7:50 for a quick breakfast before boarding the bus. Today was a big bus day, we left at 8am and didn’t arrive in Venice until 5pm. Yep, 9 hours on a bus, or I should say 9 hours traveling. I am used to the Howe/Heuer method of car travel: you get in the car and you go until 45 seconds before you either die of starvation or pee yourself. There is no leisurely stroll down the highway. You have to get from point A to point B and you HAVE to be in the car. You don’t choose to be. If you were a zillionaire you’d take a plane or a helicopter or...

Austria – Tour Day 7 Well, today started a bit later, around 9am. Nic and I made our way downstairs to grab a quick breakfast at the hotel before we headed out to see the castle. Breakfast was fairly normal aside from the gargantuan amount of smack talk from the Canadians. It seems they think the luge is their countries sport and that I can’t possibly lose. Well I held my own and let those Canadians know that no one is going to beat me at a luge, ESPECIALLY Canadians! We all had a good laugh, it’s great that the group is loosened up enough that we can all tease one another and just generally have a good time. Nicole here! Kevin wanted me to fill in the blanks between the intro and the luge. He really just wanted to write about the luge I guess!...

This is our 6th day on the tour. Well, as sad as it was to leave Switzerland this morning. the tour must go on. We packed up last night so we could sleep in as late as possible this morning which was until 7am. If you recall, I wrapped up last nights blog around 3am. You’re welcome. Our awesome driver Ben had the bus ready and waiting right on time. He rocks. We all loaded up, Kevin and I nearly last to get on and our same seats were availalble, so we each had 2 seats to ourselves across the isle from one another. Score. The drive out of Switzerland is just breathtaking. I really do love it there and can not wait to go back! We have a lot of ground to cover on this tour, but the bus rides are really great. Along the way Colleen either tells us about our...

The hotel in Austria has limited Internet and cell coverage. As a teaser we ended last night getting drunk with about 10 people from our group; including the 6 Canadians and our guide in a small hotel bar. Today we are off to a castle and luge. Hello everyone! I was just taking some time to reply to comments (my 10pm nap has screwed up my sleep schedule a bit for the night…a bad thing for me…possibly a good thing for you!) and thought I’d do a little blog post of my own! First of all I must thank Lightning for picking up our slack during Kevin’s bout of Montezumas. You are a true friend, and I am impressed with your ability to obtain photos we haven’t even posted yet! You really do work for the government, don’t you?! For those of you that haven’t got a clue what I’m talking about check out: http://www.jordangoesblogging.blogspot.com Today was an amazing day! If Kevin had to pick a day to be sick, yesterday was the right choice. I know he summed it all up...
